Monthly Guides
Month 1
If you’re reading this, you’re either a breeder who’s done this before, or you’re someone whose female dog has just given birth to a litter.
Month 2
This month is where the work really starts. Usually, puppies will still be with their dams but you may have already brought your new puppy home.
Month 3
It’s time to welcome your new family member to your home. You’ll need to treat your puppy as a housemate who needs to be taught the ground rules for successful house sharing.
Month 4
This month is about introducing your puppy to the wide world. He should have his last vaccination this month, so it’ll soon be safe to let him meet other dogs.
Month 5
This month, that cute little bundle of fur will probably be hitting his adolescence. On the plus side, this means he’ll have picked up on how to behave indoors and outdoors by now.
Month 6
Your puppy’s been waiting for this month for a long time even if he didn’t know it. At last he can be taken out to meet other dogs.
Month 7
By now, that puppy of six months ago is almost an adult. It’s not unusual for puppies at this stage to still have some behaviours that seem to have resisted training.
Month 8
Well done! Over the last few months you’ll have seen your puppy master a lot of things. He’s well on his way to being the dog you are going to live the rest of the time with.
